It’s time to stop skipping breakfast, and it’s definitely time to stop settling for the drive-through “food” on your way to start your day. I get it— mornings can be a little hectic! Especially when you’re trying to savor every last minute of sleep, get your family dressed and ready, and make sure you get yourself to work on time. But I promise you, as convenient as those two options seem, they are not going to nourish your body in the way that you need.
Unfortunately, skipping breakfast or opting for a sugar-filled, processed meal won’t give you the fuel you need for the day. It would have much more harm than benefit—especially if you are already dealing with hormone issues that leave you feeling exhausted and drained in the first place.
But don’t worry, I have a simple solution for you…
Cue my women’s hormone nourishing smoothie! This delicious breakfast is loaded with nutrients that support healthy reproductive hormones AND will keep you feeling full until your next meal. It’s a win-win.
Flax seeds: contains fiber, healthy fats, and lignans—which keep a healthy balance of hormones like estrogen.
Cinnamon: balances blood sugar and adds a warming experience to a cool smoothie.
Spinach: a great source of dark leafy greens with benefits like antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer (the best part is that you can’t even taste it in your smoothie!)
Wild blueberries: full of antioxidants and x8 more manganese than regular blueberries.
Almond butter: a creamy, anti-inflammatory healthy fat that helps create the perfect ratio of fat-fiber-protein along with other ingredients, making you feel full for 3-4 hours.
Pea protein: usually my go-to because it’s a complete and hypoallergenic plant protein.
Almond milk: has more calcium and other nutrients compared to other kinds of plant milk. Dairy contains a small amount of natural estrogen and may not be the best idea to have daily in a smoothie.
Blend, pour into your favorite glass or to-go mug or even turn into a smoothie bowl by adding your favorite toppings!
Pro tip: portion out the ingredients ahead of time to make this 10-minute breakfast in less than 5.
